14 heartbreakingly adorable quotes from winnie-the-pooh

A.A. Milne was born this week in 1882. In honor of the Winnie-the-Pooh creator’s birthday, here are 14 adorable quotes from his books:

“A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.”

“’We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.
Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”

“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”

“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”

“’Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.’”

“Promise me you’ll never forget me because if I thought you would, I’d never leave.”

“’How do you spell love?’ – Piglet
‘You don’t spell it…you feel it.’ – Pooh”

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there someday.”

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

“The things that make me different are the things that make me.”

“Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.”

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”

“Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.”

CORRECTION: A former version of this post included the quote “One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries.” The quote was pulled because though it is an A.A. Milne quote, it is not from his Winnie-the-Pooh books.
